sweet memories

summer memories cling to the back of my mind like that last drop of lemonade stuck to the bottom of the glass..
..ever so present yet so out of reach..

i danced with a boy in the middle of the street
the dark of night silenced the air
and the stars hung low above our heads
their warm glow reflected in our eyes

his arms wrapped around me
holding me close
softly singing in my ear
as we swayed slowly to the perfectly insync rhythm of our hearts

"L.. is for the way you look.. at me.. "

[untitled on a summer day]

lying flat on my back
in the prickly, hot grass
...it hasn't rained for days
the air is thick and stagnant
and the sun has to cut it's way
sharply through to where i lay.
shading my eyes with the back of a hand
blinking hard against its attempts to blind me.

but suddenly a whisper is heard in the distance
it moves in the trees
weaving teasingly through their branches
the grass bends in its wake
until finally it finds me
stopping to whisper gently in my ear
running its cool, wispy fingers through my hair

peeking through my fingers and the leaves of the trees above
i catch a glimpse of the clear crystal blue sky
wisps of clouds drift lazily by...
the birds are singing
and so am i

star_crossed

The other night as I sat outside
Breathing in the sweet fragrance of a cool summer night,
Tilting my head up to drink in the sky
i saw two satellites blink past and cross paths
and somehow I was reminded of you

you told me once that satellites have as much worth as shooting stars
and when it comes to wishes, they work just the same

a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life
their fate determined by the influence of the stars

if shooting stars can determine the course of a life
then satellites should have the power to do the same
and two satellites hurtling through the infinite chasm of space
can influence my life… and yours
and when they cross paths against the summer night sky
our lives too will cross paths and intertwine
and blend like the lips of a lingering kiss
a pair of satellite-crossed lovers meet their fate
and gazing up into the vast starry-lit sky…
I wish it to be true
